Rep. Daisy Morales Pens Amendment for Seminole Tribe Gaming Funds to Support Domestic Violence Victims
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – State Representative Daisy Morales of Orlando filed a spending amendment to the historic Seminole Tribe Compact for funds to support victims of domestic violence Wednesday.
The amendment directs funds paid to the state by the Seminole Tribe of Florida under the 2021 Compact to be used to increase funding to support victims of domestic violence through prevention and public health awareness.

The text from State Rep. Morales’s amendment reads:
Representative Morales offered the following:
“Amendment (with title amendment)
Between lines 235 and 236, insert:
Section 7. The amount paid to the state by the Seminole
Tribe of Florida and deposited into the General Revenue Fund
shall be used to increase funding to support victims of domestic
violence through prevention and public health awareness.
“TITLE AMENDMENT
Remove line 29 and insert:
games; requiring the amount paid to the state by the
Tribe and deposited into the General Revenue Fund to
be used to increase funding to support victims of
domestic violence; providing contingent effective
dates.”
Ultimately, Rep. Morales’s amendment was ruled out.
