ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Former president Barack Obama wasted no time ripping President Trump’s COVID-19 pandemic response at a Biden-Harris campaign drive-in rally in Orlando Tuesday.

In his thirty-plus-minute speech, Obama noted President Trump’s recent comments on COVID-19, and reminded the audience of the 220,00-plus of lives lost on Trump’s watch.

“Look, here’s the truth. The pandemic would’ve been challenging for any president. But the idea that this White House has done anything but completely screw this thing up is nonsense.”

Obama also went for the wallet. “The economic damage that he [Trump] inflicted by bungling this pandemic response means that he will be the first president since Herbert Hoover to actually lose jobs,” Obama said. “Back in the thirties. That’s a long time, people. That’s almost a hundred years ago.”

Obama added that South Korea, which had its first case of COVID-19 the same time the U.S. did, has a COVID-19 death per capita rate that is ony one percent of the U.S. per capita rate, and Canada’s per capita rate is 39 percent of the U.S. per capita rate.

“He’s been complaining that COVID-19 gets more media coverage than him…Watching TV all day doesn’t fix things. Making stuff up doesn’t fix things. You have to come up with a plan if you want make people’s lives better.”

Obama assured voters that a Biden-Harris administration would make free COVID-19 testing widely available, ensure that everyone has “cost-free” access to the vaccine, and “make sure that our frontline heroes never have to ask a foreign country for the supplies they need.”

He added that Biden’s plan would allow people affected by the pandemic to get paid sick leave and help small businesses “reopen safely.”

Obama also connected his observation that Trump “lies multiple times a day” with American culture. “When we tell our children to tell truth, but the person in the highest office in the land is incapable of doing so, it undermines our society.”

The general election takes place next Tuesday, November 3 from 7am-7pm. Early voting continues in Orange County, Florida, until November 1 from 8am to 8pm at 20 different polling locations.
