Five DeSantis-endorsed Republicans who lost their elections

As Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump pivot toward running for President, a significant amount of attention has been paid to the fact that many of Trump’s favored candidates across the country were roundly rejected by voters. Some pundits have even gone so far as to speculate that this bodes well for DeSantis in a GOP primary.

But let’s not forget: the far-right extremist candidates that DeSantis traveled out of state to campaign for didn’t fare well either. Here are five friends of Ron DeSantis who lost their elections this week, with potentially more to come:

1) Doug Mastriano

  • Election denier and anti-Semite Doug Mastriano was perceived by most Pennsylvnians to be too extreme. Campaigning with DeSantis, who has refused to admit that President Biden won the 2020 election and failed to condemn anti-Semitism in Florida, seems to have only made things worse for Mastriano, who lost by a whopping 750,000 votes.

2) Lee Zeldin

  • DeSantis traveled to New York to campaign for gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin less than two weeks before Election Day. He even touted Zeldin’s chances far and wide on Fox News. Unfortunately for both of them, DeSantis is despised in New York. Zeldin lost by more than 300,000 votes.

3) Blake Masters

  • DeSantis flew across the country to campaign for Arizona Senate candidate and Big Tech puppet Blake Masters. Predictably, DeSantis’ utter lack of charisma didn’t do much to move the needle for Arizona voters. Masters lost his race by more than 120,000 votes.

4) Tim Michels

  • Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels campaigned alongside DeSantis, but notably NOT Trump. Like DeSantis, Michels is an anti-choice extremist, but the duo’s efforts to strip women of their reproductive rights was counterproductive for Michel’s chances. Michels ultimately lost by 90,000 votes.

5) Derek Schmidt

  • Kansas gubernatorial candidate Derek Schmidt must have known he was in trouble after voters overwhelmingly rejected a ballot measure that would remove the right of abortion from the Kansas Constitution. Sadly for him, a campaign appearance from Ron DeSantis, who signed an abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest, was a complete waste of time. Schmidt lost by 15,000 votes.
