Nate Douglas to challenge State Rep. Susan Plasencia in Florida House District 37 race
ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN) – Republican State Representative Susan Plasencia has drawn a challenge in District 37 race from former Orange Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor Nate Douglas, a Democrat, after he filed paperwork with the Florida Division of Elections, according to their website.
Florida House District 37 race in 2022 emerge as an election battleground.
Douglas was elected Orange Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor in November 2020. He assumed office on January 5, 2021 and left office on January 3, 2023.
During the November 2020 election, Douglas joins three other politicians as a volunteer, nonpartisan supervisor on the five-member board. Also winning seats were Karolyn Campbell, Raquel Lozano, and Alaina Shaleen Slife. Supervisor Campbell is the Board’s chair.
Representative Plasencia defeated incumbent Democrat Carlos Guillermo Smith, a six-term state representative and first openly gay Hispanic member of the Florida House of Representatives 52 percent to 48 percent, during the 2022 general election.
The primary election happens August 20, 2024 and the general election happens November 5, 2024.
