ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – On Friday, July 28, 2023, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 1 City Commissioner Jim Gray celebrate the completion of the eight-mile Narcoossee Road expansion project with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

This transportation project is critical to ensure this area of the city has reliable and efficient infrastructure to serve neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and the medical city and included:

  • Widening Narcoossee Road from four to six lanes between the Beachline Expressway (State Road 528) and Central Florida Greenway (State Road 417)
  • Upgrades to 11 traffic signals at all signalized intersections
  • Enhanced underground drainage systems

The project also added a new 13-foot-wide multimodal trail running along the west side of Narcoossee Road from Lake Nona Boulevard to Lake Nona Club Drive that features native landscaping, new benches and a bike repair station.

The roadway expansion furthers the city’s goals to create a connected community with a 21st-century transportation ecosystem that offers residents and visitors safe, innovative and efficient mobility options.
