Congressman Gaetz Releases Statement on Failed Vote to Prohibit Funds for a New FBI Headquarters
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted on his amendment to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill to prohibit funds from being used for the acquisition of a property for a new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters. The amendment failed on a vote of 145 to 273.
“Time after time we have seen the FBI target President Trump, people who believe in the Second Amendment, parents attending school board meeting, and more recently, some of their own brave FBI whistleblowers who have spoken up about the weaponization of our Federal Government. We should not be awarding nefarious behavior by wasting hundreds of millions of dollars for a new headquarters in the DC-area.
Although my amendment failed, I will continue my fight to defang and defund government agencies that have been weaponized against the American people,” Congressman Gaetz said.
