Jacqueline Centeno First prominent Democrat enters race for Florida House District 46
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Osceola County educator Jacqueline Centeno is the first prominent Democrat to open a campaign account to run for the Florida House District 46 seat in 2024, according to Florida Division of Elections’ website.
There’s a wave of Puerto Rican candidates in Orange and Osceola counties running for elected office at the state level, including State Senate seat 25, and State House seats 43, 44, 46 and 47. This is another sign that Puerto Ricans are united in restoring their political voice in Florida.
Centeno is the first Democrat and third candidate — following Republican candidates Michael Cruz and Christian R. De La Torre — to add her name to the District 46 race to replace Democratic State Representative Kristina Arrington, who’s running for State Senator Victor Torres’ District 25 seat who is term-limit.
Centeno also ran for election to the Orange County School Board to represent District 2 in Florida. Centeno lost in the primary on August 28, 2018 to Johanna Lopez and David Grimm. Lopez defeated Grimm in the general election.
The Florida primary election is August 20, 2024 and the general election is November 5, 2024.
