Orange County Legislative Members Landed Seats on Several Education Committees for 2021 Session

ORLANDO, Fla. – (FNN NEWS) – Friday, Florida House Speaker Chris Sprowls announced members’ assignments for various education committees and subcommittees.
For the Orange County Legislative Delegation, State Representatives Rene Plasencia (R-50), Travaris McCurdy (D-46), Daisy Morales (D-48), Keith Truenow (R-31), and Geraldine Thompson (D-44) landed seats on the various education committees and subcommittees that write the budget for higher education and have oversight of post-secondary schools and the development of programs and initiatives for them.
Republican Rep. Rene Plasencia will seve as Chair of the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee and Vice Chair of the Post-secondary Education and Lifelong Learning Subcommittee.
Freshman Democratic Rep. Travaris McCurdy will serve on three committees: 1) Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee, 2) Education and Employment Committee, and 3) Early Learning and Elementary Education Subcommittee.
Freshman Democratic Rep. Daisy Morales will serve on two committees: 1) Education and Employment Committee, and 2) the Post-Secondary Education and Lifelong Learning Subcommittee.
Freshman Republican Rep. Keith Truenow will serve on two committees: 1) PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee, and 2) Early Learning and Elementary Education Subcommittee.
Democratic Rep. Geraldine Thompson will serve on two committees: 1) Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee, and 2) the Post-Secondary Education and Lifelong Learning Subcommittee.
