ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN) – With each new presidency follows the 100 day time period. Here is a rundown on what President Joe Biden has done in his first 100 days in office.

The American Rescue Plan

This plan, signed into law on March 11th, launched the $1.9 trillion in stimulus funds. This includes a boost to unemployment benefits, an increase in SNAP benefits, and checks for people earning under the $75,000 threshold.

Funds were also designated to assist higher education, public education, the restaurant industry, and states and cities. A substantial portion assisted the housing market with $21.6 billion designated to helping people with rent, $10 billion to people struggling to pay their mortgage and $5 billion to fight homelessness.

Finally, the plan provided a new social security net focused on kids and increased the size of the child tax credit. This allowed parents checks from the IRS depending on the child’s age ($3,600 for children under six and $3,000 for children ages six to 18).

Around 220 Million Doses of the Vaccine Administered

President Joe Biden met his initial commitment to administer 100 million vaccines in his first 100 days with the administration of around 220 million vaccines.

Immigration

Biden reversed the travel ban focused largely on Muslim countries. He formed a task force focused on reuniting children with their families at the US-Mexico border and called for a cessation of work on the border wall.

However, Biden, who called for more permissive immigration policies, was confronted by waves of immigration to the border since the start of his presidency. He has assigned Vice President Kamala Harris to stem the flow of immigration to the US-Southern border.

Climate Crisis

President Biden immediately signed an executive order to reverse President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the 2015 Paris climate accords. This agreement looked to limit global warming to 2°C and, eventually, lower. He also hosted a global climate summit where he made commitments to reduce emissions, but has yet to set forth formal plans.

Inequity and Social Justice

New executive orders aimed at racial and social equity were passed. This includes not renewing federal projects with private prisons — facilities that have a reputation of profiting off of people’s work and housing prisoners in less than safe conditions — as well as instating a housing memorandum aimed at lessening discriminatory housing practices.
