Brazilian Defender Rafaelle Souza Joins Orlando Pride Post-World Cup

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN) — On Monday afternoon, newly-acquired Orlando Pride defender Rafaelle Souza made her first visit to Exploria Stadium, participating in a welcome photoshoot at the home venue of the Pride.

Signed on July 3, Rafaelle arrived in Orlando after competing with Brazil in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where she captained her home country during the team’s play in the tournament, playing alongside now-Pride teammates Marta and Adriana.

With its final UKG Challenge Cup match on the horizon, the Orlando Pride (0-4-1, 1 point) returned to the Orlando Health Training Ground at Sylvan Lake Park on Monday morning to begin preparations for the match. The Pride see a quick turnaround to the Wednesday night game at NJ/NY Gotham FC, having hosted the Washington Spirit on the weekend. The midweek match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET from Red Bull Arena and will stream on Paramount+.
