Orlando State Rep. Daisy Morales Highlights Over Half a Million Dollars in Appropriation Projects
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida state budget for the 2021 legislative session was released and two of eight projects filed by Representative Daisy Morales (D-Orlando) were included in the budget:
– HB 2855 seeks $250,000 for Gateway Orlando Economic Prosperity Initiative, to provide relief, resources and training to businesses and residents economically impacted by COVID-19.
– HB 3199 seeks $100,00 for Grow It Forward Urban-Farm Network Strategic Planning a strategic planning for sustainable expansion of a micro-farm network. The current infrastructure can only take up to 10,000 sq. ft. of land per member-location, and only two member farm locations can enter per season. With the funding it allows an additional four member farm locations per season and increase the location capacity to two acres and also be able to strategically plan for the development of multiple farm locations throughout Central Florida providing access to healthy and fresh produce grown within five miles of their location on site with houses of faith and community partners.
In addition, Representative Morales cosponsored HB 3861, which is sponsored by Representative Kamia Brown. The bill seeks $240,000 for Central Florida Family Health Center COVID-19 Infusion Center, which will decrease the number of hospitalizations for seniors with mild to moderate symptoms that participate in antibody infusion therapy.
Central Florida Family Health Center, Inc. does business as (dba) True Health. True Health has three facilities located in Rep. Morales’ District.
“As a freshman lawmaker, I am excited to have been able to help secure much needed resources and funding for House District 48 and Orange County,” said Representative Morales. “I’m eager to work with local government agencies and non-profit organizations to fund additional appropriations in the next session.”
