State Rep. Daisy Morales Hosts 3rd COVID-19 Vaccination Event, Serving Asian Community

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN) – State Representative Daisy Morales (D-Orlando) in partnership with Andrew Jeng, Central Florida chapter president of the Asian American Pacific Islander Public Affairs (APAPA) and the Florida Divison of Emergency Management, hosted a COVID-19 vaccination event at Michael McCoy Elementary School in District 48 Saturday.
700 doses of the Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccine were provided by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) for Saturday’s event, so no second appointments were required. Through the Florida Division of Emergency Management’s logistics, traffic flowed smoothly from the event’s start at 9 a.m. until its conclusion at 3 p.m. with five vaccination stations. Once residents received the vaccine, they got to meet and speak with Jeng and Rep. Morales.
The drive-though vaccination event called for appointments, but accepted walk-ups on a wait list basis. Two senior gentlemen on bicycles even received their vaccines. One burst with excitement after receiving his shot. “Thank you so much,” he gushed. “You guys just made my whole week!”
“Not much is being said about the Asian community as it relates to COVID-19 and I wanted to ensure that community got vaccinated,” said Rep. Morales. “Their safety and health are as important as everyone else’s in District 48.”
